As you watch the Yankees in their apparent attempt to snatch up every free agent imaginable, just don't make the mistake of thinking that they're finished. Sure, they've already gotten arguably the 3 best players on the market. But if you think they're finished, you couldn't be further from the truth.
Impacto Deportivo has already reported that the Yankees agreed to terms with a deal involving Manny Ramirez. While Yankees GM Brian Cashman denied the story, the fact remains that Manny heading to the Bronx is all but inevitable at this point.
The Red Sox and Angels have been the two teams who have been brought up as pursuing every big free agent so far this year. So far, they have been outbid by the Yankees at every turn.
While this may not be the case with Manny Ramirez, it's obvious that the Bronx may be the only place he can turn, at this point. With the way he left Boston, there is no way he'll ever step foot in the home clubhouse again at Fenway Park. The Angels have no personal beef with Manny, but they've made it clear that they plan on building from within.
Manny has already declined offers from the Dodgers, and he has made it clear several times in the past that he would like to play in pinstripes. The Yankees still have the means, and they still have an open spot in the lineup for him, since Bobby Abreu is departing. Manny being Manny in New York? Don't be surprised when it happens.
