Hey, hey, hey! C.C. Sabathia is looking really trim and fit these days

Blog Photo - C.C. Sabathia is now slim, trim and skinnyAs a fan of an MLB team for whom C.C. Sabathia once pitched, I can tell you that we so enjoyed having a league-leading pitcher who was comically overweight. That's why fans of the New York Yankees, Milwaukee Brewers and the Tribe in Cleveland are likely shocked that C.C. Sabathia is looking a whole bunch thinner these days. Several photos posted to Twitter indicate that Sabathia has recently shed some significant pounds.

I know, many of you are thinking "lap band surgery". C.C. claims otherwise, of course. And given that they guy is 33 years old and entering his 14th season, I don't see why he'd do that at the twilight of his career.

But certainly C.C. Sabathia has slimmed down here at the twilight of his career. The photos telling us this are a series of images posted to social media in the last six weeks: some Instagram photos of a wedding Sabathia recently attended, a screenshot from TV of Sabathia attending a Knicks game and a photo Sabathia himself tweeted from that same game.

C.C. insists that it's just from working out. In fact, Sabathia claims his weight has not even changed.

Blog Photo - C.C. Sabathia is now slim, trim and skinny"I’m actually the same weight as I was last year, just a little more toned and a lot more strong,” Sabathia told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal via text message.

“This is the first offseason I was able to weight-train and get stronger and not worry about weight loss."

Just look at C.C. and wife Amber in the wedding photo at left, taken in mid-January. They are radiant and are both specimens of perfect beauty and health.

But guys know that tuxedos can be pretty forgiving, especially for those of us carrying a little paunch.

And if you look at all of C.C.'s photos on Instagram, you see that those three widely shared pictures are just the ones where he looks particularly skinny. Most of Sabathia's recent photos regress to a mean in which he looks 10, maybe 15 pounds lighter. His weight loss is not drastic, but some photos make it look that way.

Sabathia is the kind of stand-up, approachable guy whom you root for even after he's left your team. I suppose I can get used to seeing the new slim and trim version of C.C. Sabathia. But if he stops wearing his ballcap cocked to the side, then I'm going to have serious trouble adjusting.
