Calgary Flames Paul Byron settling well with new team
Byron helped the Flames win 3-1 over the Sabres with his shorthanded goal and last December he had a goal and assisted in the other on against the Sabres. Byron said that it was an honor to go up against his former team as they were the ones who drafted him in the first place and allowed him to start a career in the NHL so he had their respect for that.
“It was an honour to play against my old team. They gave me a chance when other teams weren’t willing to draft me and develop me,” Byron said. “I had those games marked on my calendar for a while, and I’m glad I was able to play against them.”
There is no questioning the fact that Byron packs a whole punch of talent and professionalism and has honed them both with time. Still, his young age and relatively small size have had some people questioning him. Now a father to a girl, he had matured both on and off the ice and Byron is happier than ever, saying that his daughter loves to be at the games and feel the energy of the crowd.
