Mandatory Credit: Mike Carter-USA TODAY SportsWith 11 more catches and 225 receiving yards, Calvin Johnson broke Jerry Rice's record for receiving yards in a season.

He now has 1,892 yards with one game left to play.

That puts the number 2,000 very much within reach, which would be a truly remarkable feat. He'll only need 108 yards next week against the Bears. he has already had 11 games this season with at least that many yards.

As great as Johnson has been this year, there's a glaring difference between his historic season and Rice's record season, when he had 1,848 receiving yards in 1995.

Rice scored 15 touchdowns that season. Johnson only has 5.

That was the problem last night as well, with the Lions losing 31-18, and continuously settling for field goals.

The Lions' only touchdown was a 1-yard touchdown from Mikel Leshoure.

Johnson is a great player, and he'll continue is incredible career, but the Lions really need to find a way to get him in the end zone more often.
