All the pro football junkies can breathe easy...they can get a fix of a sort tonight when the Canadian Pro Football league kicks of its season with arguably the worst game it could possibly put on the field, followed by what should be a very entertaining rematch of last years championship game.
The Details:
Game #1: Toronto at Hamilton 7pm est 4pm pst
The Line: Toronto -1.5 Total 51.5
Only the Canadian Football League would open its schedule with the worst game it could possibly put on the field....Toronto at Hamilton....the only thing this game has going for it is that is a natural rivalry game...with the two cities about 45 min apart...Toronto begins this season with an all new coaching staff that although has good football pedigree south of the border, they have never coached a CFL game. Hamilton brings back an experienced group and a solid running game…which should be enough to carry the day while Toronto is still sorting themselves out in game conditions.
This game is available coast to coast in Canada on TSN television, and by broadband on tsn.ca…there is no coverage available for our American friends (probably just as well!).
Prediction: Hamilton 14 Toronto 10
Game #2: Montreal at Calgary 10pm est 7pm pst
The Line: Calgary -4.5 Total 52.5
This game is a rematch of the Grey Cup game that was played last Nov.23rd…both teams bring back everybody on the coaching staffs and offensive side of the ball and almost everybody on defense, although oddly enough both teams will be starting rookie MLB’s….not a lot to pick from in this game…Montreal was swept by Calgary last year, so that plus the fact that I look for Calgary to come out a bit over-hyped up as the champs means Montreal sneaks out of here with the win. This should be a very entertaining contest…for those who are not put to sleep by the first game.
This game is available coast to coast in Canada on TSN television, and by broadband on tsn.ca….it is also available on espn360.com for our American friends.
Prediction: Montreal 21 Calgary 17
I will publish a link to the full US and International broadcast schedule when it becomes available.
Enjoy your Football everybody!!
