Mandatory Credit: Steven Bisig-USA TODAY SportsWith the 14th pick of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers selected Star Lotulelei, a defenisve tackle from the University of Utah.

Lotulelei was named the best defensive lineman in the Pac-12 last season by the conference's offensive linemen, and dominated o-lines with his superior strength. If people remember the Utah-USC game last season, Lotulelei single-handedly kept the Utes in the game by forcing two early turnovers.

Lotulelei played more snaps than most defensive linemen because he was Utah's best players. When he has a full motor, he has Haloti Ngata-like potential.

The Panthers offense has a lot of potential with Cam Newton, but their defense is too porous, so Lotulelei should help. Their biggest hole, in fact, was on the defensive line. With Lotulelei clogging things up in the middle on defense Carolina will hope last year's first rounder Luke Kuechly can run wild and make tons of tackles like he did in college.

Lotulelei had a scare at the NFL Scouting Combine, where a test revealed a heart ailment. He did not work out at the Combine, but was cleared to practice for scouts at Utah later on. It seems as if the heart issue is a thing of the past and shouldn't impact his NFL career.
