Center Of Attention
The Blue Jackets had an optional this morning in Pepsi Center. Only three guys didn't skate. To be honest, I was watching Rick Nash play center so much I didn't notice which three took off the morning.
About that new center ...
Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock joked that he'll decide during the national anthem if Nash will play center tonight.
"I'll know by 7:08 mountain time," he said.
Then he relented and acknowledged that Nash will indeed play the pivot for at least part of tonight's game. He won't take defensive zone faceoffs, Hitchcock said, but he will take neutral zone and offense zone faceoffs. This should be interested
More news:
-- G Pascal Leclaire will skate with the club on Monday. The second opinion on his ankle was the same as the first ... just a sprain. He'll practice Monday and will likely return on Wednesday vs. Edmonton.
-- RW Raffi Torres expects to play Saturday vs. Chicago. His right shoulder is still tender, he said, but he's able to play, so he will. This guy is an impact player. The timing couldn't be better.
-- LW Fredrik Modin is expected to resume practice early next week.
