Yesterday it was Jeff Garcia who admitted to being 'a dead man walking.' Today, it's Chad Pennington who IS the dead man walking. Pro Football Talk confirms what we were expecting, Pennington will be cut this afternoon from the New York Jets.

Not necessarily a big deal, but it's a rude move that New York is waiting until 4 pm to make it official, thus prolonging the official waiver move until tomorrow. Chad and his agent now lose one day of working with other teams on a new deal.

Anyways, Pennington is inevitably going to find a new home with many teams struggling to find a quarterback capable of wining games.

Minnesota Vikings After all the Brett Favre interest, it's clear the Vikings are unsettled at the quarterback position.Tarvaris Jackson is still young and mistake prone. Not that Pennington is anywhere near Favre's talent, but his experience could give Brad Childress another option while Jackson continues to develop. Minnesota can win now if they minimize turnovers.

Chicago Bears Accurate passer in the short to middle range, struggles with the long ball. Chicago already has that in Kyle Orton, but the Bears could use an experienced arm who's at least accomplished a few things in the NFL. Despite that, Lovie Smith won't bother to inquire about Chad, as he remains confident that Kyle or Rexx "is his guy." The stubbornness in Bears camp kills me.

Kansas City Chiefs Herm Edwards is familiar with Pennington, but he remains steadfast in his support of Brodie Croyle to be the man in KC. 

Miami Dolphins We all know how badly Miami needs a QB. John Beck, Chad Henne, nor Josh McCown have shown Tony Sparano anything thus far. I'm not sure who they would move to make room for Pennington, but we know Bill Parcells is comfortable with giving the football to an over the hill quarterback.

Tampa Bay Bucs Why not add another QB and piss Jeff Garcia off even more? We know Gruden will at least inquire about the potential for another boyfriend.
