The announcement of the impending sale of the Minnesota Wild last week by current majority owner Robert Naegele Jr. came as a surprise, but all indications point to only the team's letterhead changing. New prospective owner Craig Leipold, who previously owned the Nashville Predators, lives in Racine, Wisconsin, and has already been quoted as saying, "If it's not broke, don't try fixing it." I feel that a new perspective will be a refreshing change--it seems like the Wild have been satisfied with just MAKING the playoffs, rather than trying to get deep into them (say, the conference finals, or dare I hope, to actually play for the Stanley Cup someday!! The Wild seem to be responding well as of late, earning their third straight win yesterday with a dominating 4-1 win at home against Phoenix to begin a three-game homestand. I will be following this, but Mr. Leipold seems to be well liked among the other owners, and the sale is expected to sail through.
