Character Teams Not Interested in Andrew Bynum
After being waived by the Chicago Bulls last week, Andrew Bynum hit the free agent market with a dud. Some reports indicate that up to eight teams are interested in the services of the big man, but that number pales in comparison to what it would've been just a few years ago. The reason? Not so much his bad knees, but his bad attitude.
Two teams desperately in need of a back-up big man - the Miami Heat and the Portland Trailblazers - have no interest in Bynum’s histrionics with their championship aspirations. Despite the fact that both teams could use another big man off the bench, teams that value character more than talent are staying away from the primadonna that is Andrew Bynum.
Much like J.R. Smith and Metta World Peace, Andrew Bynum has developed the reputation for being a locker room cancer. Sometimes, players just need a change of scenery and at other times, drama tends to follow certain players wherever they go. In the case of Andrew Bynum, it is not the former, but the latter. But with a price tag at the veteran's minimum, teams will be entertained by fool's gold once again, only to be disappointed in a few months.
