Watching some of ESPN's "This Is Sportscenter" tonight it reminded me how much I miss Charlie Steiner.
There once was a time when I consider Sportscenter must see TV, and would never think to miss one episode. Not so much anymore, but it's still fun to reflect on their funnier times. Charlie Steiner was involved in a lot of those, most noteworthy was probably this Y2K "This Is Sportscenter" ad.
Follow me, follw me to freedom. I guess that was foreshadowing for his eventually leaving the network.

Very true. It's funner to watch Sportscenter, atleast in my POV, sports info delivered to you in one thats not just so direct and monotone the whole way through.
The only one ESPN still has left that can keep some humor going, is Kenny Mayne. Now; if there were about 10 Kenny Mayne's that worked there, I would be much happier watching.
I'm a fan of Van Pelt and Kenny Mayne. They're still in the old mold of guys like Kilborn and Olbermann.
Most of the new SC "anchors" should be on ESPNEWS or something.

I like ESPNEWS because you can get all the scores and info in 30 minuets. They don't have time to mess around so you get what you need.

Which is why I wanted to specifically mention Sportscenter for the first sentence; I like ESPNEWS as well, because it's direct and can give you all you want/need to know quickly.
But for Sportscenter, atleast have a little fun with it, as it stretches to an hour or hour and a half long shows anyways.

I could go without Berman/Jackson on Sunday's though.

Agreed - there once was a time when I would have been happy with only a couple of channels, as long as ESPN was one of them. I don't even care for it anymore though. I chalked it up to the fact that I became addicted to NFL Network (and now NHL Network) so my two favorite sports were covered. I tried watching SC though the other night though and I'm just not feelin the love anymore.
If I want anything more than those two networks can give me, I can get it here.
I agree with most on here that loved the old SportsCenter - now that I have Directv with 40+ more sports channels, I find that I'm watching SportsCenter less and less....
