Chelsea and Liverpool are set to battle for the services of Wilfried Bony in the January transfer window. Reports from Vitesse Arnhem have confirmed that Wilfried Bony is set for an away move this fall.

The Champions League winning side from last season is expected to lure Wilfried Bony to London. However, Liverpool plan to counter them with a larger bid for the club and a better contract for the player.

Just last weekend, Wilfried Bony dismissed a move to the French football giants Paris Saint-Germain. The Ivory Coast international told reporters that he desired a move to the English Premier League.

Chelsea’s new manager Rafael Benitez will have little funds at his disposal during the January transfer window. Luckily for the Spaniard, Wilfried Bony can be picked up for as little as £8 million.

Wilfried Bony’s surprisingly small buyout clause is the reason behind Liverpool’s interest in the 23-year-old striker. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers won’t have a lot of funds at his disposal this fall, but Liverpool’s miseries up front have forced him to search the football market for a possible suitor.

Presently, Wilfried Bony is the top goal scorer in the Eredivisie top scorer. The forward has scored 15 goals in 14 league games.

Less than a fortnight ago, Wilfried Bony told reporters that it would be a ‘great honor’ to play for Chelsea. Consequently, reports of Chelsea’s interest in the youngster soon flooded the football market.

“It's not the number one topic for me at the moment, but if they write about me going there, then it's great isn't it? But seriously, if they (Chelsea) want me, it would be a great honour. I would be glad to go to such a club,” Wilfried Bony told Pravo, a Czech newspaper.

“I love English football and wouldn't be afraid to play there. Chelsea are a top club. If Chelsea are interested in the winter and the clubs reach an agreement, then why not?”

Rafael Benitez will have to battle with his former club Liverpool in order to sign in Wilfried Bony. Insiders at Liverpool have revealed that the Merseyside club have sent a strong delegation to Vitesse Arnhem in order to capture the services of the youngster.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen on bolstering Liverpool’s attack during the January transfer window. Pairing up Luis Suarez with Wilfried Bony will certainly strengthen Liverpool’s attack.
