Chelsea and Man Utd prepare to battle over rights to Everton star Marouane Fellaini
Sir Alex Ferguson is set to break Manchester United’s traditional silence during the January transfer window by launching a sensational transfer campaign for the Everton star Marouane Fellaini.
Reports indicate Manchester United are prepping a large bid for Marouane Fellaini this January, even though the Belgian midfielder has been a Chelsea transfer prospect for a long time. Marouane Fellaini has attracted a lot of interest from top notch clubs across Europe since summers.
The 25-year-old has been in superb form for Everton, which has helped the Merseyside club fight for a European spot this season. With eight goals in 16 appearances, Marouane Fellaini is the top goal scorer for Everton in the Premier League.
According to media reports, both Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafael Benitez are willing to meet Marouane Fellaini’s £22 million release clause. Marouane Fellaini has already declared that he will move out of Goodison Park by the end of the season, if he hasn’t already jumped ship by January.
In a recent interview Marouane Fellaini told reporters that he was in search of Champions League action. The Belgium international confessed he was looking forward to making a big-money move to achieve his goal.
While talking to ESPN UK, Marouane Fellaini declared he would prefer moving to Manchester United instead of continuing career at Everton.
“I want to go higher in football but I have a contract with Everton until 2016 and, if they want me to, I will see it out to the end. I could not stay in Liverpool any longer. I was recognized too much and sometimes women would suddenly climb all over me. The paparazzi also took some getting used to. I don't want to be a big star. People in Manchester treat me with more respect,” Marouane Fellaini said.
Marouane Fellaini refused to comment of his transfer saga, but claimed a number of European powerhouses had shown interest in acquiring his services. Chelsea have been linked to a move for Marouane Fellaini for some time now.
The Champions League winning side see Marouane Fellaini as a long term replacement for Chelsea midfield legend Frank Lampard. Reportedly, Marouane Fellaini will make €5 million per year by agreeing to move in at Stamford Bridge.
