Chelsea and Spurs close in on Willian as Shaktar Donetsk evaluate suitors
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle over the services of Shaktar Donetsk’s midfield star Willian. According to media reports the London clubs are willing pay the £20 million price tag placed on Willian by Shaktar Donetsk.
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur appear to be new the frontrunners for Willian, although a number of other top notch European clubs from Europe are also being linked to the Brazilian midfielder.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has long been courted by the Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas. The former Chelsea manager stepped up his efforts for Willian after witnessing his superb performances in the Champions League this season. Willian is expected to fill in the void left by Rafael van der Vaart at White Hart Lane.

Shaktar Donetsk, who beat Chelsea to capture the £12.4 million forward Taison, are going to sell Willian to the highest bidder in the market. The Ukraine champions are also willing to keep Willian at the club if negotiations are stalled.
Willian’s failure to return on time from Brazil from a winter training camp has fueled fire of his transfer speculation. Willian, who has already expressed desire to move into the Premier League, looks set for a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur or Chelsea.
The arrival of Willian at Stamford Bridge would me the union of fellow Brazilians David Luiz, Oscar and Ramires. On the other hand, at Tottenham Hotspur Willian would meet compatriot Sandro in the midfield.
The largest obstacle in Willian’s transfer to the Premier League is Shaktar Donetsk’s fear of performing without Willian in the Champions League. Shaktar Donetsk qualified for last 16 stage of the Champions League by defeating the defending champions of the tournament, Chelsea.
