
Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo went out on a limb to extol about the qualities of his latest signing Andre Schurrle. That’s right! The German star from Bayer Leverkusen has been signed in by Chelsea for £23.5 million.
Roberto Di Matteo didn’t need a lot of arguments to convince Chelsea’s billionaire Roman Abramovich into signing Andre Schurrle. The 21-year-old’s statistics from last season were enough to prove he was going to be an asset for Chelsea.
With just nine days remaining in summer transfer window Chelsea picked up their campaign to sign in Andre Schurrle. The Champions League and FA Cup winners from last season eventually presented Bayer Leverkusen with an attractive offer which the German club graciously accepted.
Following the departure of Didier Drogba, Roberto Di Matteo hopes Andre Schurrle will boost the Chelsea’s attack and help in claiming the Premier League title. Although, Andre Schurrle might be young of age he has already 108 times and scored 29 goals in the Bundesliga. Andre Schurrle has also made 17 appearances and scored 7 goals for Germany.
Andre Schurrle is a talented technical player, who can operate on both wings and as an attacking midfielder. With exceptional dribbling skills and finesse finishing abilities, Andre Schurrle will do well with Chelsea’s revamped midfield.
Andre Schurrle is certainly a keeper. Roberto Di Matteo is an avid fan of the Germany international. The Italian will immediately start working on making Andre Schurrle a permanent part of Chelsea’s first team.
“We’re probably a bit light in attack,” Roberto Di Matteo admitted yesterday, just before rumors of Andre Schurrle’s signing broke into the airwaves.
The former Mainz 05 forward Andre Schurrle is expected to make his debut this weekend. Don’t be too surprised if Andre Schurrle scores a goal on his debut. He has already done that before at Bayer Leverkusen.
Andre Schurrle will assist Eden Hazard and Juan Mata with playmaking in the midfield. He will also act as a superb second striker to Fernando Torres. By the looks of it Roberto Di Matteo has found Chelsea a priceless gem.
