Chelsea’s newly signed in midfielder Oscar has urged compatriot Leandro Damiao to join him at Chelsea. Stamford Bridge boss Roberto Di Matteo is expected to rival Manchester United’s interest for Leandro Damiao with a strong bid on the young forward during the winter transfer window.

The Brazilian international, who is hailed as the next Ronaldo, is considered to be one of the best young strikers in the world. Chelsea has been pursuing Leandro Damiao since the summer transfer window.

Internacional snubbed a couple of bids from Chelsea in the summers. The Brazilian outfit wants to make a payday out of Leandro Damiao’s transfer, therefore they will auction the striker for the highest bidder in the football market.

Internacional has already denied transfer moves from Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. However, now that Leandro Damiao has requested an away move the transfer process should speed up.

Oscar, who used to play alongside Leandro Damiao at Internacional, wants him to join the Champions League winning side.

“Oscar is a great friend, our wives are friends too. He's happy there. Sure we miss him because he helped a lot of people here,” Oscar said. “But he's a great player. Every player dreams of going, I've talked about it. One day it will happen. He asks me when I will go there. I say that at the moment I don’t have an answer.”

Chelsea are looking to strengthen their strike-force during the winter transfer window. Their most notable transfer target is Atletico Madrid star Radamel Falcao, but Roberto Di Matteo has a couple of backup plans as well.

Reportedly, Chelsea is also in talks with Klass-Jan Huntelaar of Schalke and Robert Lewandowski of Borussia Dortmund.

Nonetheless, Chelsea will first try their luck with Leandro Damiao. Earlier this year, Leandro Damiao admitted he missed his teammate Oscar.

“It’s going to be difficult to find a midfielder who’s as good as he is, but I know he’s taking the right track and is heading for a club where he can go a long, long way,” Leandro Damiao told FIFA.

“It’s just as well I make the most of his assists now (with the national team) because I’m going to miss them later on.”
