Chelsea defender David Luiz claims Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero should make a public apology following his rash challenge in the FA Cup semifinal at Wembley on Sunday. Manchester City managed to enter the FA Cup final following a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in a game that saw referee Chris Foy give very little advantage to the defending champions.
David Luiz claims Sergio Aguero should “apologize to everyone” for deliberately making an irrational two-footed challenge eight minutes from the final whistle. The Brazilian defender believes Sergio Aguero lost him temperament in the final moments of the game.
Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez has asked the match official to have another look on the video and punish Sergio Aguero for his rash challenge. David Luiz wasn’t as condemning as his manager although he was on the receiving end, yet he believes Sergio Aguero should come out with an apology.
“I would apologize to everyone,” David Luiz said. “I didn't see if it was a bad tackle because it was in my back and even though I don't like to think about bad things, he needs to be honest with himself. Sometimes you can be angry for five seconds and do bad things and you have to say this sometimes.
“I forgive everyone in my life. People are happy when Aguero is scoring goals, doing things in the game. Many people have said to me this is not me and not good for the football. Many kids see the game, watch the game and want to see good things and not bad things.”
Exit from the FA Cup means Chelsea will not be able to pick any silverware this season. David Luiz claims Chelsea won’t be disappointed by defeat in the FA Cup, as a matter of fact the Blues will use their impressive campaign to fuel belief for the challenges ahead. Now that Chelsea is out of the FA Cup, the Blues have to concentrate on acquiring a Champions League spot.
“In the first half it was difficult, but the team come back in the second half and we showed what Chelsea is about,” David Luiz said. “We showed we are a big club, we created a lot of chances and their goalkeeper did well in some big moments.
“Now we have to finish as high as possible in the Premier League and try to win the Europa League. We are confident moving forward. I am always positive.”
