Chelsea favorites to sign Radamel Falcao after Man City’s withdrawal
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is keen on strengthening his attack during the summer transfer window. The boss of Eastlands has shown interest in acquiring the Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao and the Liverpool forward Luis Suarez.
Chelsea and Manchester City have been battling over the rights to Radamel Falcao since last summer. Recent reports suggest Manchester City have withdrawn from the race to sign in Radamel Falcao.
Radamel Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes met up with the Manchester City brass last. According to the Colombian’s agent Manchester City will not place an official bid before offloading Mario Balotelli from their squad.
The 26-year-old Colombia international, Radamel Falcao has been in spectacular form for the last couple of seasons. Having scored 36 goals in 50 appearances for Atletico Madrid last season, Radamel Falcao has improved his average by scoring 13 goals in 10 appearances this season.
European football giants, including Chelsea, have been after Radamel Falcao for over three years now. Radamel Falcao grabbed attention of the world in the 2009-2010 season by scoring 34 goals in 43 appearances for Porto. Next season Radamel Falcao bettered his statistics by scoring 38 goals in 42 appearances.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain can be listed as the clubs interested in acquiring Radamel Falcao’s services, but Manchester City’s withdrawal means Chelsea lead the race for Radamel Falcao.
Reportedly, Manchester City cannot afford Radamel Falcao due to the financial restrictions set on them by the Football Association. This is also why Roberto Mancini was unable to bring any strikers to Manchester City during the winter transfer window.
Rife rumors suggest Radamel Falcao has already inked a gentleman’s agreement with Chelsea. If this is true then all that’s needs to be agreed upon is the transfer fee of Radamel Falcao.
A £38 million bid for Radamel Falcao came from Chelsea and Manchester City during the summer transfer window, which was almost immediately turned down by Atletico Madrid. Since then a number of bids have arrived on the table.
A £48 million bid from the Champions League winners Chelsea has increased the chances of Radamel Falcao making a move into Stamford Bridge this winter.
