Chelsea’s population of Belgian internationals continues to swell. Officials from the London club have confirmed the signing of the hot Belgian prospect Charly Musonda. The impressive feats and talents of the young Charly Musonda has attracted a lot from top notch European clubs like Arsenal, Manchester City, Juventus and Real Madrid.
Arsenal were the favorites the get Charly Musonda’s signature but Chelsea’s Champions League victory seems to have change Charly Musonda’s preferences.
Charly Musonda, who is the son of former Zabia international Charles Musonda, has joined Chelsea from Anderlecht along with his two brothers Lamisha and Tika. Although, Charly Musonda is only 15 years old, he is already being compared with the likes of Belgian football prodigy Eden Hazard.
Eden Hazard ended a yearlong speculation about his potential move to an English Premier League club last month when he decided to join Chelsea. Chelsea paid a hefty £32 million to Lille in order to acquire Eden Hazard’s services.
With this move Chelsea’s population of four Belgians has increased to seven. Chelsea already had Romelu Lukaku, Thibaut Courtois, Kevin de Bruyne and of course Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea is also showing interest in signing Everton’s coveted midfielder Marouane Fellaini. Interestingly, the 24-year-old Marouane Fellaini is also a Belgian international.
It appears as if Chelsea’s new manager Roberto di Matteo and owner Roman Abramovich have grown a strange liking for Belgian players over the past couple of months.
Chelsea has already placed a £20 million for Marouane Fellaini. Everton hasn’t responded to the transfer proposal yet but it could end up in Chelsea’s favor. Everton is facing financial difficulties which means they will have to sell off a couple of players this summer.
If Chelsea is unable to acquire the services of Marouane Fellaini they have already prepared themselves for a replacement. Roberto di Matteo, who is planning to rebuild Chelsea’s youth academy and invest in home bred players wants to swoop in for Barcelona’s young central midfielder Sergi Roberto.
The 20-year-old player from Barcelona’s youth academy played in only four matches for Barcelona last season but he scored two goals. In spite of his young age, Sergi Roberto has already created a large fan base which includes a couple of big clubs from Europe.
Sergi Roberto, who has represented Spain in all age groups, wants to cement his place in a squad. Whosoever lures in Sergi Roberto will have to promise him more first team action.
