Chelsea moves in for Shakhtar Donetsk star Willian – Chelsea show interest as well
When you have the financial backing of a Russian billionaire you don’t need to worry about money needed to make bids on talented players. Although, there is still more than one and a half month before the transfer window opens, Chelsea is laying bids on strikers all over the football market.
Apart from the Chelsea’s interest in signing Radamel Falcao, the Blues are also interested in acquiring the services of Shakhtar Donetsk forward Willian. Club officials have also hinted that Willian can become the next big for Chelsea.
The versatile 24-year-old is considered to be one of the top transfer targets this summer. Shakhtar Donetsk believes Willian should be put on sale for £28 million.
However, the price is expected to increase as Chelsea face competition from Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal.
Tottenham Hotpsur manager Andre Villas-Boas is ready to fight tooth and nail for the Brazilian youngster as well. According to reports from White Hart Lane, Andre Villas-Boas could lay down a £30 million for Willian.
The Vitesse Arnhem forward has avid fans in Stamford Bridge as well. The Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo sees Willian as a long term investment at Chelsea.
“It's not the number one topic for me at the moment, but if they write about me going there, then it's great isn't it?” Willian said in a report to The Daily Star yesterday.
“But seriously, if they want me, it would be a great honor. I would be glad to go to such a club.”
“Chelsea are a top club. If Chelsea are interested in the winter and the clubs reach an agreement, then why not?”
Willian, who has been in spectacular form in Europe and England, is bent towards a move to Chelsea. The Brazilian has already declared Chelsea as his dream club, therefore Chelsea will use this as leverage to formulate a good deal for Willian.
