Chelsea on the brink of signing Brazilian stars Wallace and Leandro Damiao
Chelsea has made move to end their right back miseries. The Champions League winner are set to sign in Fluminense’s right back Wallace for €5.5 million during the January transfer window.
Club insiders have also confirmed Chelsea’s interest in bringing Wallace to Stamford Bridge next year.
Presently, Chelsea are using their versatile defender Branislav Ivanovic at the right back position with exceptional results. However, with Branislav Ivanovic out injured there Chelsea possess no quality right back for his replacement.
Chelsea’s young full back Ryan Bertrand has been filling in for Branislav Ivanovic, but the youngster needs years on his side before he can bring quality football to the field.
Brazilian news outlet Globo Esporte claims a deal between Chelsea and Fluminense is already in the making. The news outlet also claims that Chelsea’s refusal to make any official comments on this saga indicates that behind the curtain negotiations are in progress.
Meanwhile, ESPN sources have also confirmed that an agreement is in place and that Chelsea are Fluminense are now trying to resolve the final aspects of the deal.
Chelsea have held 40% of Wallace’s rights since 2010 following the departure of Deco, who left Chelsea for Fluminense on free transfer.
Now, Chelsea are ready to pay €5.5 million to secure full ownership of the 18-year-old Brazilian fullback.
If a deal between Chelsea and Fluminense is agreed then the Brazil Under-20 international Wallace will move to Stamford Bridge in the summers after completing the season with Fluminense.
Globo Esporte expects Fluminense to officially announce Chelsea’s purchase of Wallace at the end of the 2012 Brasileiro season.
Chelsea are also interested in signing Brazilian forward Leandro Damiao. The 23-year-old Internacional striker, who has been compared to Brazilian football icon Ronaldo, is considered to be one of the most talented youngsters in Brazil.
Leandro Damiao has already announced his interest in moving away from Internacional this summer. Chelsea and Manchester United are leading the race for his signature.
