Chelsea star Juan Mata has warned his teammates against complacent form in the Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday. The Spaniard asked his teammates to treat the encounter as if it was the Champions League final.

Chelsea fell to a shocking 2-1 defeat against Shakhtar Donetsk a fortnight ago. The defeat leaves Chelsea with an uphill task to make qualify into the Group of 16 from the Knockout stage.

The Stamford Bridge boss Roberto Di Matteo is confident his men will perform at their best against Shakhtar Donetsk. Nonetheless, the Italian manager has asked his players to avoid any kinds of mistakes.

Shakhtar Donetsk will travel to London to play against Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. Juan Mata is confident about picking a win at home. The Spaniard wrote in his official online blog that Chelsea was always stronger when they played at the Stamford Bridge.

“It's time to move on and to focus on the Champions League match this Wednesday. It's like a final for us if we want to finish first in our group,” Juan Mata wrote.

“Besides, in Ukraine, Shakhtar proved to be a top team who are able to beat anyone. Even so, we always have a great support at the Bridge and I'm confident that we will get a victory to face the last two games in a good position. Champions League's nights at the Bridge are always special.”

Juan Mata will return to Chelsea’s first team on Wednesday after resting in the 1-1 clash against Swansea City last weekend. Juan Mata played for 120 minutes in Chelsea’s epic 5-4 victory over Manchester United in Capital One Cup.

The 24-year-old Spain international also told his fans that he needed to rest after the Manchester United clash.

“After such a huge effort during 120 minutes I was forced to rest a few days with a hamstring injury,” Juan Mata said. “That's why I missed our game in Wales versus Swansea.”

If Chelsea are unable to defeat Shakhtar Donetsk they will become the first Champions League winning team to get eliminated from the tournament in the Knockout stage.
