Chicago White Sox Versus Minnesota Twins One Game Playoff Live Thread
It All Comes Down To This

There is nothing quite like a one game playoff. After 162 games, all that blood, sweat and tears, it all comes down to this one game. Win and move on, lose and go home.

Whoever ends up victorious tonight wins the AL Central and earns the right to face be beaten to a bloody pulp by the Tampa Bay Rays.

As of right now,  John Danks will be starting pitcher for the White Sox. Danks has an 11-9 record with a 3.47 ERA. Meanwhile, Nick Blackburn takes the mound for the Twins. Blackburn is 11-10 with a 4.14 ERA this season. Also, while Minnesota has a 10-8 record against the White Sox in 2008, the Twins are just 2-7 in Chicago. The White Sox earlier this month won a coin flip to determine which team would host the possible one-game playoff.

There's also the added bonus that Ozzie Guillen talked trash about Blackburn the other day. Ah, good old Ozzie. Man I hope the White Sox win tonight. Although, I guess even if they lose, Guillen's season ending press conference is bound to be hilarious and expletive-filled.

Right now, 64% of FanIQ is going with the Southsiders, but in all honesty, when it comes down to one game, you never know what'll happen.

Anyhow, feel free to Q it up here or on the linked game page.

Yay for the 'great' baseball voices of Dick Stockton and Ron Darling with Harold Reynolds...why can I not enjoy my games like I have all season with guys that actually have followed these teams and have real knowledge of them, and not just repeats of all these stats that were written down by others.

I can't stand Hawk Herrelson, but put him in the booth with Dick Bremer or Bert Blyleven, and they can call this game better than anyone that TBS ever will have.

I think Stockton isn't bad.  He does a much better job at baseball IMO than at football.  (He's mediocre at football in my opinion)

Here's hoping this is as exciting as the NL tiebreaker game last year.  That game was epic.

Not the greatest of starts...

Go Twins. I don't think the White Sox have it in them to win 3 straight elimination games.

Not that it matters... the Rays are going to crush whoever wins this one anyway.

Great defense Minnie!

I hate the fact Cuddyer is in this game. A broken foot and broken hand, hasn't played most of the season, slow as hell on his feet and in his swing...Gardy chooses to keep his other 20-HR guy in Kubel on the bench for this game...

Ok, who called a pitchers duel early?

I retract that statement for now...will probably change later...

Big part of me just wanted to see Pierzynski hurt on that play; didn't care if he was out or safe...It does hurt they can't get on the board with a leadoff double though.

Ill tell you what, If Brian Anderson was in center tonight, that guy would have been safe. Kudos to Kenny Williams with getting Griff

I said before that Morneau and Mauer had to do something to win this game...0-6 wasn't what I was hoping...

If the White Sox end up winning, it's fitting that they won because Thome hit the ball 500 feet.  What a shot.

Just one pitch..was a good pitchers duel though.

Lack of plate discipline was the downfall for the Twins.  They hacked at seemingly every pitch thrown, especially at the end.

Oh well.  Go Rays.
