Chiefs 30, Chargers 16: Marty Schottenheimer Would Be More Than Happy To Fix This

"MAR-TY! MAR-Ty!"

The same fans who wanted to get rid of Martyball 8 months ago, are understanding the "Be careful what you wish for" saying a little more each Sunday.
"They pay their money, they have a right to voice their opinion, just like everybody else," LaDainian Tomlinson said. "They showed their frustration with us, the way we've been playing. I can't say that I blame them."
Riddle me this: How does LaDainian Tomlinson only get 6 carries in the second half? If you're wondering why Philip Rivers is struggling this season, look no further than a lack of commitment to LT on the ground. The reigning NFL MVP still had 132 yards on 20 carries, but there was room for plenty more.

Chargers GM A.J. Smith has no one to blame other than himself for the current state of the preseason AFC West favorite.

AS far as the Chiefs choking: I can say that by beating Your Chargers in San Diego they have already overachieved. Your right the season is far from over and the satndings will change many times, since all 4 teams are in some form of transition. The early arguments that games couldn't have been won by a coaching change, simply because players didn't play well. Come on most of those same players played very well last year under Marty so a person could assume that they would have played better this year under Marty or atleast someone other than Norv. The NFL is a business and most businesses wouldn't fire a manager in the middle of success after taking over during bad times. Lets hope for San Diego's sake the front office can put egos aside and make a decent hire next time, which will most likely be soon.

San Diego still made the right choice to get rid of Schotty... its just that they completely messed up all the other details like firing him at a reasonable time and hiring a good coach.

Fact remains, Marty Schottenheimer was a good, if not very good coach that just didn't have the ball bounce his way at the right time. You have to get to the playoffs that many time to lose that many.

He indeed was, he has too many W's to deny that.  However championship windows don't stay open long and they had to make a move to get where they wanted to go.  Unfortunately for the Chargers they made a bad choice of replacement.

I totally disagree with that.  I don't think I've ever seen any major sports coach get fired that had a .875 winning percentage for the season.  His players lost the playoff game last year; they just choked.  At least he was intense and had the respect of the players.  Norv doesn't even look like losing phases him.  He looked like he was ok with everything on the sideline.  I guarantee that Marty would have made sure LT got a lot more carries in the game but hey, I'm happy because we won.

I completely disagree.  If he was still there, this team would probably be 3-1.

I think at best they'd 2-2, just because they would have ran out the clock in the second half against the Chiefs.  No coach was going to win their game against the Patriots or Packers, they just didn't play well enough in those games.

I think the Green Bay game was very winnable with better coaching.

I doubt it... the only reason they were in that game was because of Rivers and the passing game, which is pretty much the exact opposite of MartyBall.  Marty was a good, even great coach, but hes not going to win games by himself.

Considering the Packers couldn't run and destroyed the Chargers passing, I think he could have made defensive adjustments to give his team the edge.

I can buy that aspect, however in defense of the Chargers, for whatever reason no team has stopped the passing game.  With how horrible the Green Bay running game is, somehow we win by passing passing passing.

I am still amazed as well the Packers have managed to do that.  Favre's of course been great, but they've been blocking great too, they're allowing a sack every 21 passes, that's pretty good.

Mike McMarthy has done an amazing job with the talent he's been given.  He knows how to make the most out of it.  Personally I think the coaching job last year was better than Sean Payton's.  The O-line is awful at run blocking, but has done very well protecting Brett this year.  He's getting time again, and is able to make his throws.  Its been fun to watch.

Yeah, he's definetly looked like a great coaching choice, I thought he was a terrible pick when he got hired, but he's proven me wrong so far.

Are you kidding?

"when was the last time that k.c. ever made it anywhere"

About as far as your Chargers. We've both been through Martyball; you remember that.

"while u show the standing's i'll show the stats"

what stats are that exactly? A defense that is nothing close to where it was last year and a Rivers QB/Turner HC that for some reason won't give the ball to the best player in the league.

"K.C. WILL CHOKE ON THE SPLINTERS OF THEIR SHATTERED ARROWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Ok...I understand rivalries; but its kinda sad to say how bad a team will "choke" when most expect them to win 6-7 football games..and they beat you in your house.

I'm glad you have faith, but don't come with illogical smack talk that has no real point...your team is 1-3 with a bad Head Coach, and just bad looking overall football team; deal.
