Chiefs Next Quarterback - Daunte Culpepper?
READ MORE:
NFL
On Monday, the day after Brodie Croyle was injured, the Chiefs talked to Daunte Culpepper.  Thursday, Daunte Culpepper announces that he is unretiring.  Could we be seeing Culpepper in a Chiefs jersey by next Sunday?

He has sustained damage to three of the four major ligaments in the knee:  the ACL, PCL, and MCL.  With knee damage to this extent, how healthy is Daunte and how mobile will he be?  Being a quarterback for the Chiefs right now, requires a quarterback to be able to run for his life!  Kansas City has a very weak offensive line that any mediocre defense will be able to plow through.  Daunte has always been known as a tough quarterback who can run for the yards needed to get his team a first down or even a touchdown.  He's physically built tough and strong and can usually withstand a block or two and has been known to be a tough player to tackle.  But, can he be elusive enough to escape a defensive line cutting through the Chiefs offensive line?  This I am not sure.

There are some qualities that I think Daunte could bring to the Chiefs organization if he does not get injured.  First of all, this season is pretty much a wash out.  But, if he can come into the organization and get a feel for the plays and make some connections with Dwayne Bowe and Tony Gonzalez before the years end, then next season might have some potentional for the Chiefs.  I still believe that the Chiefs need to spend their first draft pick on a premiere quarterback for the 2009 season.  If we get a premiere quarterback and if Daunte can groom him for the 2009-2010 season, maybe we would have a chance at finally being contenders.  Daunte would bring leadership to this team.  This is a quality that no player on the Chiefs team seems to want to take on.  Daunte could and I think would take on the leadership role - he is a presence on the football field and he demands respect or else he will burn you.

Nice, check out what they're saying about Carl Peterson at http://www.bootcarl.com  I think that's awesome.  I can't wait to see more of Thigpen and the rest of the team played like they did last week.  It was a good game, we gave the Jets a scare.  Lets hope they can pull it off this weekend with the TB Buccaneers and play their hearts out.  Who knows maybe things can turn around I still have my doubt.

Anyone who knows Carl Peterson knows he is a cheap bastard.  He is preaching this youth movement crap, but we all know its so he can save money.  He went with Quinn Gray because he was cheap.  I am guessing Daunte Culpepper wasnt going to come cheap.  Any quarterback that is dumb enough to sign with the Chiefs and stand behind that horrible Chiefs offensive line....well......is dumb.  I am a Chiefs fan and I hope for the best, but I think this is a lost cause until Peterson and Edwards are GONE!!!

Yes, I was very impressed with Thigpen on Sunday.  I hope he can play like that again this Sunday against the Bucs.  I guess KC called off all talks with Daunte Culpepper, so it looks like Thigpen could be our QB for the season - if he keeps playing the way he did, I wouldn't mind keeping him around for a few more seasons!

BTW, I LOVED the Carl Peterson link!!!!!    Totally hilarious!!!!!!!!

Until he gets hurt....then we will throw Quinn Gray into the fire.  Lets hope I am wrong and everything works out from here on out.  Hopefully they can build on this last minute loss to the New York Jets.
