Tonight's TV goodness

Tonight is all about the NBA, not college basketball. The Hawks nearly kicked the Celtics out in the first round last year, let's see if they can get some revenge. Also, Spurs/Hornets is another series that went down to Game 7 last season. I hate the Spurs, so go Chris Paul.

College men's basketball: North Carolina-Asheville at Duke (ESPN2, 7:30 p.m.); Siena at Pittsburgh (ESPN2, 9:30 p.m.).
NBA: Boston at Atlanta (ESPN, 7 p.m.); San Antonio at New Orleans (ESPN, 9:30 p.m.)

Yeah this years Madden is pretty weak. I usually rent the Madden once a season to check it out but I always get NCAA. I tried the very first Head Coach and just couldn't get into it.

This version of HC is LIGHTYEARS ahead of the first version. Since you are a college guy, you'd enjoy how in depth the draft is, and the built in college storylines. (There is 4 distinct draft paths, 60 unique drafts, Adam Schefter and Todd McShay in the game discuss how certain studs are doing during the college season and their pro hopes, it's pretty cool)

As a whole, it's ridiculously in depth. Steep learning curve though.

The last NCAA game I played, the recruiting system was incredibly well made. I just have trouble getting into it for the same reasons I don't like college football in general.

The draft and scouting on HC, you go through the combine, individual workouts, pro days, the works. The depth of the game is just insane.

That's how it is, but I think it adds a lot more fun to me. Madden and NCAA, even on the hardest difficulties get to easy for me because even with crap talent, it's too easy to run the plays.

That's the thing with HC, most people care more about controlling the players than anything else, that's why it will never be more than a niche game. But I think it's very entertaining and is a great challenge.
