Tommy Tuberville will return to where his coaching career began as Cincinnati and Miami (Fla.) have agreed to a home-and-home series from 2014-15, starting at Sun Life Stadium. Blog Photo - Cincinnati football: Bearcats agree to home-and-home series with Miami (Fla.)

It's likely that Tuberville, who was on the Hurricanes' staff as a defensive assistant from 1986-93, had something to do with the deal.

"I think it's a great series," Tuberville said via The Cincinnati Enquirer. "It's very difficult to get anybody to play you here. These so-called big-time teams, they tuck their head and run. … I want to thank (Miami) for doing that, because they didn't have to do that. It'll be tough for us down there next year and it'll be tough for them when they come here."

One of the only remaining teams from the Big East, Cincinnati needs to keep making moves like this to remain relevant until it can leave the American Athletic Conference, also known as the New C-USA.

The two programs have met 11 times in years past, with the last coming in 1998 and the vast majority during an eight-year stretch from 1982-89.  The Hurricanes own a 10-1 advantage in the series, having won 10 games in a row.

Miami adds to a pretty solid non-conference schedule for the Bearcats next season, as they will also see Toledo, Miami (Oh.) and Ohio State.
