Cito Gaston Blasts Roger Clemens In Jeff Pearlman's Book

Cito Gaston On Roger Clemens: "He's A Complete A**hole"

Former (and current) Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston wasn't fortunate enough to stick around too long for the 2-year long Roger Clemens Era in Toronto.

Despite his 2 Cy Young awards and incredibly dominant performance during his 2 seasons with the Jays, Gaston didn't exactly have glowing praise for Clemens, especially upon hearing news about a claim in Jeff Pearlman's book entitled The Rocket That Fell to Earth, that Clemens may have had a hand in Gaston's firing, and the hiring of Tim Johnson, Gaston's replacement.

"He's an a-----e himself. A complete a-----e. And I'll say that loud, right in his face. It was all about him. Ain't about nobody else but him. When he's pitching, everyone's in the dugout pulling for him, but when he's not pitching he's not in the dugout. I didn't feel like he supported his teammates as much as he wanted support."

Gaston also said that Clemens went so far as to threaten Gaston's job, by asking him if he wanted to keep his job or lose it. He even challenged Gaston's managerial decisions, in terms of pitching changes.

Apparently Clemens never had the stones to challenge Gaston to his face, however.

"He wouldn't (confront me). One of us would have had an ass whuppin' that day. It might have been me, but he still would have known I was there."

This really doesn't come as much of a surprise. Not many people would confuse Clemens with a classy or nice guy. Now, with Pearlman's new book, even more stories will come out, and we'll see this guy for the elitist joker that he is.

I'm sure Clemens has the balls to refute, they are just very horribly shrunken.

Rodger is Rodger,  Is he a saint far from it, but when he was playing in Toronto no one had a problem with him.   Regardless of his personality, he wasn't being paid to to have tea with Cito, he was paid to pitch for the team.  I can rest assure you every single team in Rodger's prime would of drooled all over to have him on their team.

It's probably best he keeps quiet now.  Him talking previously is the main reason people are able to bag on him so much lately.

Jeff Pearlman wrote an unflattering portrayal of an already unpopular athlete? In other news, water is wet.

Gaston seems to have these outburts often, just doesn't get as much coverage since he's up in Toronto.  I wonder if a**hole is more damning of an insult than syringe a$$?
