Clemson Tigers Receive Verbal from Big-Time RB

Miami (FL) running back Dalvin Cook of Miami Central High School announced his decision to play football for Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers on Tuesday.

The class of 2014 recruit committed on the second day of Swinney's high school camp, reports Kerry Capps of OrangeandWhite.com. Clemson was his top school for quite some time, and Cook was finally ready to pull the trigger.

"Coach (Dabo) Swinney, we had a meeting after the morning practice. He let me know what a commitment really was, and he asked me if I was ready to do it. I told him that I'm all-in," Cook told 247Sports. "The program itself just sticks out," he said. "It's the way they utilize their players and the bond I have with the coaches. Everyone here is just happy."

As a sophomore in 2011, Cook rushed for 1,100 yards and nine touchdowns as the secondary tailback behind  Florida State commit Joseph Yearby. Both are potential 5-star prospects.

However, it may be Cook's athleticism alone that makes him such a highly-touted player. The 5'11", 190-pounder opened a lot of eyes during his school's state championship game, where he rushed for 84 yards on six carries (14.0 ypc) and returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown.

He was Miami Central's top performer in track for the 100 meters (11.18) and 200 meters (22.62) this spring, and won the 40-yard dash with a time of 4.38 seconds at the Junior Rank Miami Camp last month.

Cook also held offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Miami (FL) and USC. He becomes the second member of Clemson's recruiting class for 2014.
