You've seen this a dozen times already and we discuss it a little yesterday, but it continues to puzzle me that the rules are written to that one of the most important plays in football is NOT reviewable. That doesn't make any sense.

Fortunately the officials in Baltimore got the call right in the end, but it may have very well been the result of an "illegal" consultation from a replay officials.

Hypothetically, let's assume the Browns were screwed here because the replay was not allowed or that the official simply missed the portion of the crossbar that was struck. Cleveland then goes on to miss the playoffs by 1 win. Can you imagine the outrage? This would rank up with Earnest Byner's fumble.

If the NFL is going to have instant replay, which it obviously should, please make all possible scoring play reviewable. It's far too important to screw these types of plays up.

They obviously had enough foresight to make a rule that you cannot review a field goal.  There should have been no mention of it as reviewable or not with that logic.

The ridiculous thing is that it needed to be reviewed. Two refs standing right there, whose sole job is to determine if the ball passes through the uprights, and they couldn't call the kick good right away. Inexcusable.
