Coca-Cola 600 [Live Thread]
Let's Try This Again, Everyone [Coca Cola 600 Live Thread]

Well, racefans, have you had enough yet? No?

Good.

Because we've only just begun.  It was Jenson Button in the Formula 1 race from Monaco, Helio Castroneves in the Indianapolis 500, and now get ready for 600 miles under cloudy skies in Charlotte NC.

Rain got the best of the Coca Cola 600 yesterday, but no worries.

The longest race of the NASCAR season is about to get underway (again), so chat it up! Don't give up on us now!  Grab a cold one (even if it's 9am where you are), some munchies and the remote for the surround sound. I'm picking Kasey Kahne or Jimmie Johnson, what about you?

I'm taking the rain by a nose over Jimmie Johnson.

I'm going with Jeff Gordon or Brian Vickers.  If Mark Martin wins the longest race of the year, I'll be convinced that he has found the Fountain of Youth.

Hey Mike! Welcome!

I have made it over to Studio B for the next race....if the rain clears and the track dries this race will belong to Jimmie Johnson.....or maybe not......

now it is on to Orange County Choppers.....these guys sure are a bunch of jerks. I wouldn't last an hour working in that shop.....it looks like they are still having trouble with showers in Charlotte....the forecast for tomorrow doesn't look much better......

At this time of year, if my son wanted to skip a day, I wouldn't likely worry too much, he only has a two weeks left anyway.  Aren't you guys out the end of the month? I thought Alberta was ahead of BC that way.

pick to win/ Kasey Kahne
dark horse/ Brian Vickers

If Vickers could ever last this whole race he'd be a serious threat to win it, he's had one of the best cars the last 2 years and crashed out before the sun went down.  Oh well, at least I get to watch the race, that is, if my stupid internet will work.

5/25/09

Well  i live about a 100 miles from Charlotte and its 4am, i better get to bed if i am going to get up in time to see the end of the race.  lol  Darn it.

So did FOX - you don't have it on TV?  FOX IS showing the race.  I mean they have to pre-empt My Wife & KIds, Friends, Paid Programming (Sham-WOW) etc., so I'm sure there will be a few p-o'd viewers

1 box instant lime jello, add one cup boiling water, then add one cup chilled (very cold) dark rum or tequila.
Put in those little bitty paper cups and refrigerate for several hours. Double, triple or quadruple the ingredients depending on how many shots you wanna make. WOOHOO!  I just go to Costco and buy a case of jello mix before I hit the liquor store....

What I heard was numbnuts AKA Chris Meyers saying "so there you have it, it is an official race" which was a stupid comment on his part, leading to misunderstanding, but I think what he meant was IF called, the race would be an official one.  Too bad his mouth doesn't work so well.

UGH I hit reply to the wrong comment - Quit talking so much Darren

No kidding.  My wife has been mentioning to me that she is not willing to sit all day in the rain at the track.  I sure hope it's dry when we hit Mi in Aug and Lowes in Oct.  I'm still hoping I can pull out the Brickyard this year. It's starting to look good. Time will tell.

5/25/09

You bet they are! I was at the Texas Speedway many years ago, rained like hell off and on all day, had a great time. Made a small fortune selling beer to folks cause Ft Worth is in a dry county, and me and my buddies hauled in a bunch of coolers full of beer. What sucked was the rain turned the parking lot into a huge mud bog, cars and RV's stuck all over the place. That's when the party REALLY started!!

good luck with going to the Brickyard and with the weather at the other races any of them would be awsome to see...sure wish that they got the track built up here in the Northwest but i don't think that i will live long enough to ever see that happen......

I have another NASCAR bud who was at that race.  Usually he took the wife and fam, but that time he and a buddy went.  He said it was the BEST.

Funny that the rain delay for US is about the same as it is for the fans in the stands.....reminiscing......

Tony and Dale jr, that is interesting...i could easily see that happening.....I also think that Tony jr is history, way too many mistakes this year.....bad pit stops, bad strategy, bad car adjustments, Dale jr's lack of focus....something has got to change on that team.....I don't see Rick Hendrick putting up with the situation too much longer.....
