Today is the day race fans live for. One of the most prestigious races in the world is ready to begin. Today marks the 92nd running of the Indianapolis 500. 33 of the world's finest Indy Car drivers will take the starting grid at the Brickyard for 500 miles, all hoping to get that drink of milk in victory lane, and write their name in the history books.
Then, when the Indy 500 comes to a close, the party is just beginning. We still have another 600 miles of racing to be run. 43 of the world's best stock car drivers will take the green flag at the home of NASCAR, Lowe's Motor Speedway, just outside of Charlotte, N.C. for the 49th running of the Coca-Cola 600.
No driver is doing the famed Memorial Day double this year. John Andretti will be in the Indy 500, but Jeff Green attempted to qualify his #34 for the Coca-Cola 600. Robby Gordon and Tony Stewart also both decided to stay away from Indy again this year. So we won't get to see the sprint from the Indy 500 post race interview to the helicopeter to Charlotte to the stage for driver introductions for the Coke 600.
This is an open thread for all of us here at the Q to discuss the Coke 600. I'll be watching both races today, as I'm sure many of you will be as well if you're as big of a race fan as I am.

I'm a nervous wreck......
