College Basketball Saturday Open Thread: Let's Go Dancing, Kenny
Just 8 days left to Selection Sunday. It's the final Saturday of the regular season, which means you've got to begin your bracket preparations with a long day of watching hoops. If you're not thrilled about that, you've come to the wrong place.
Three more automatic bids handed out today, while all the major conferences fight for the somewhat meaningless regular season crown. Here's what we've got today...

Big Ones

Big South Championship: Winthrop vs UNC Asheville (11:30, ESPN2) - We mean big one here of course, as in 7'7 Kenny George who needs to be a part of the madness. He's not very good, but he can change the game in stretches.

#10 Louisville at #13 Georgetown (Noon, CBS) - Your Big East regular season Championship game and likely a 2-seed on the line (for now).

North Carolina at Duke (9, ESPN) - It's this little rivalry on Tobacco Road you may have heard about. For all it's hype, it is a rather significant game. ACC title, of course, but more importantly the 1-seed in the East that could have home court advantage through the first two weekends. That's big.

Worth Watching

#7 Stanford at USC (2, CBS) - Gus Johnson is on the call, so that's reason enough. If the Cardinal can bounce back from the disappointing loss across town with a win, then I'm on board with Stanford.

Creighton vs #21 Drake (2:30, FSN Local) - Arch Madness semis. I'll go ahead and call the Blue Jays upset here.

#20 Marquette at Syracuse (4, ESPN) - Must win for the 'Cuse.

Ohio Valley Championship: Tennessee State vs Austin Peay (5, ESPN2) - So, what's so excited about this? Tennessee State is one of those teams with a losing record that has a chance to play on. I love March.

Have at it.

My goodness, I actually feel bad for Kenny George! He can barely move. He kind of reminds me of a kid playing 2nd grade soccer strictly because his dad is making him.

I hope my boys can hand Hibbert and Co. their walking papers today.

Pretty sure my high school gym was twice the size of this place in Asheville. You have to love that.

I was thinking the same thing. Most of the high school gyms around here are bigger than that.

Just like dookies to always copy the Tar Heels. Bloom makes his half court shot and a dook person has to make theirs. I bet if all the Tar Heels started eating 18 oz burritos before their game, dook would do the same.

Here we go with Louisville/Georgetown.  I have goosebumps.

First time this season I'm actually going to sit down and enjoy a full day of college basketball.

To start it out with Louisville/Georgetown, it strikes an interest, then with Gus later on just makes it feel like March Madness time, and I can't wait.

Duke/North Carolina has always been entertaining, but I do look forward to seeing finally a cleaner game than what has been going on as lately between the teams, but at the same time, players showing as much heart as any with the recent events over in NC.

Should be a very nice preparation for the Conference Championships along with the Tourney coming very soon.

That's going to be a stretch. Wait, offensive explosion from Louisville. 18 points!

It's amazing; they're actually heating up, and still in the teens.

I can't do anything but shake my head right now.  I can't believe all these boys got the jitters and that they've lasted this long.

I hope Louisville plays better in the second half; that's usually how it works.

2-6 at the line, terrible shooting from the field, and a lot of turnovers -- to only be down 5 is nothing short of a blessing.

I gotta say; it's just a different kind of basketball game I've ever seen when he's in. Winthrop can't even try to attempt to go in the paint, so jack up 3's hoping to launch it over George's head, and then whenever Asheville is on offense, you see other guys just lob it up for a 3-foot shot or a dunk that requires no jump. Amazing.

The closest thing I can call it is like a senior in HS playing with some 5th or 6th graders...it's just odd to see.

(and yes, I realize I'm behind on this by a few months, I'll live with it.)

I'd rather have the disappointment happen today than in the tournament.

Louisville's come back from 11 down to tie the ballgame...and we've got over 45 points for both teams.

1:12 left, tied ball game, and im a nervous wreck.

That three from the corner was Louisville's best look and I thought it was going in. I am surprised that who ever received the save with 3 seconds left pumped, got the guy in the air, and then tried to draw the foul while taking an off balanced shot instead of stepping into an open three while knowing that the refs aren't going to call a foul unless it was blatant, especially at Georgetown.

You sound pretty sure that the Big East tournament doesn't bode well for Louisville.

Awfully slow start for Stanford. I know I'd be still upset somewhat for what happened @ UCLA, but gotta be somewhat prepared for this game..

UCLA is the dook of the Pac-10. How many calls can they get at the end of the game? This is getting ridiculous!
