A friend once told me that the University of Memphis is so poorly regarded in terms of academics that people in the area refer to it as Tiger High. I don't know how true that is, but I do know this. I think the last time a Calipari player graduated from college was never.
Anyway, Memphis managed to remain unbeaten by hanging on to beat UAB. If you're beginning to think Memphis won't win the national championship even if they head into the tournament undefeated, the line forms on the right. Careful, it's LONG.
Also of note, Indiana apparently decided to circle the wagons for Kelvin Sampson as they destroyed Michigan St. 80-61. This was a big win for Sampson. Why? Because it's always nice to finish your career with a win. He better get the axe, like, yesterday.
In other action, Michael Beasley of Kansas St. dropped 40 on Mizzou in a 100-63 win. Georgetown surprisingly got beat down by Syracuse 77-70. Stanford survived a battle against Arizona 67-66. And the Tarheels put a hurtin' on Virginia Tech 92-53.
I have mixed feelings on Indiana. Sometimes they look like they could easily make their way into the final four and other times I think they are destined to be upset early. Also think that Memphis is going to beat Tennessee by double digits, let everyone jump back on the wagon, and then let my bracket kill everyones because I didn't have Memphis go past the Elite Eight, if that.
How many teams are in or on the bubble from CUSA this year?
