Colorado is prepared to offer Cincinnati’s Butch Jones a five-year, $13.5 million deal to become the Buffaloes’ next head coach, reports Bill Koch of The Cincinnati Enquirer.Blog Photo - College Football 2012: Colorado Offers Huge Deal to Cincinnati's Butch Jones

Jones, who is 23-14 in three seasons at UC, helped the Bearcats clinch their second straight Big East Championship, giving them their fourth shared title in five years.

This might be a game-changing offer for Jones, who is scheduled to make $1.6 million in 2013. There are reports that he is unhappy with the current state of Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium and the inability to renovate it.

However, there are also reports that state Jones is working on restructuring his contract with the Bearcats and that a pledge will be made to make upgrades to the stadium.

Either way, one of these schools is going to get a great deal. Jones is a top candidate in the college football coaching carousel and is one of the fast-rising coaching stars.

The Bearcats took a big hit when Brian Kelly fled to Notre Dame in 2009, but were very lucky to land a guy like Jones. They might not be so lucky a third time around.
