According to multiple sources, North Carolina State coach Tom O’Brien, Boston College coach Frank Spaziani, and Purdue coach Danny Hope have all been fired.
O’Brien was terminated Sunday after a disappointing 7-5 (4-4 ACC) season in which he had previously stated that this was the deepest and most experienced team during his six-year stay.
Spaziani was let go after a 2-10 season that followed just four wins in 2011. The Eagles are in last place in a very mediocre Atlantic Coastal Conference and have no signs of moving forward.
Despite winning three in a row and becoming bowl eligible, Hope was released from all duties after four seasons with Purdue. The Boilermakers were 22-27 (13-19 Big Ten) during his tenure, proving that average isn’t what A.D. Morgan Burke is looking for.
This is just the beginning of what could be a very lengthy—yet exciting—coaching carousel among NCAA football programs.
Edit: Colorado's Jon Embree was let go on Sunday after just two seasons. The Buffaloes went 4-21 in that span.
Edit: Ellis Johnson was fired by Southern Miss on Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Eagles finished 0-12 after winning the Conference-USA title last season.
