Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls: The best time of the year starts now as college football is set to kick off Thursday night.Blog Photo - College Football Kickoff 2012: Predictions for Every Week 1 Top 25 Game

We've been waiting anxiously for over seven lengthy months, but Week 1 is upon us and it holds some interesting headliners.

Michigan will take on the defending national champion Alabama on a neutral site this weekend, along with other big matchups such as Boise State vs. Michigan State, Clemson taking on Auburn, and Georgia Tech attempting to knock off Virginia Tech.

We'll get to see how Stanford quarterback Josh Nunes debuts in place of Andrew Luck, if Urban Meyer's spread-option offensive attack looks crisp against Miami (Oh.), and just how many points Matt Barkley and the USC Trojans can put up against Hawai'i.

Using the AP Top 25—different from the FanIQ preseason rankings—here are my predictions for the first week of college football.

I read either in the Omaha paper or Des Moines paper that if Frank Solich's Ohio squad gets past Penn State this weekend, they have a chance to run the table and actually get to a BCS game before his former team Nebraska and Bo Pelini do?  I love the Huskers as well as former coach Solich, however I don't believe fans in either Lincoln or Athens, Ohio should be making any BCS plans this year.

I don't think Ohio will make a BCS either, but I do think it has a good chance to beat Penn State and win the MAC.
