College Football Picks Week 1: Fans vs Experts
READ MORE:
Alright, let's kick it off already!

One of my favorite things we do here at FanIQ is holding all the experts accountable to their predictions, while allowing you to compare you picks to the pundits.

Every Thursday of the college football season we'll line up the key games each week and let you know who's picking whom. This will evolve over time, so please let me know what you're interesting in knowing about the experts or fans.

Here's how the fans match up against the experts for Week 1:

Boldest Pick: Dennis Dodd of CBS Sportsline thinks Jim Harbaugh is going to make sure he isn't the greenest coach in the conference for long. Harbaugh certainly has demonstrated he isn't afraid of anyone and it's good to see Dodd isn't afraid of making a bold prediction on Week 1.

Weakest Picks: Yahoo!Sports "experts" traditionally only picks just the top 25 teams. That's all fine and dandy come mid season when there are more than one game between top foes, but on opening week we don't need to see that you think Ohio State is going to beat Youngstown State and Michigan will be Appalachian State. Sack up boys. It'll make your "record" look nice, but it's not fooling anyone. You're on notice Yahoo! and CBS Sports.

Onto the top games this week and how the fan picks match up with the experts. Who's picking whom this week?

Fans: 80% Eagles
Vegas: -6.5 Eagles
Which experts are picking the upset? John Tamahana (MSNBC), Tom Deinhart (SportingNews), Matt Hayes (SportingNews),

FWIW here are my picks for these games:

California  home crowd + revenge + DeSean Jackson
Georgia Tech A game the GT offensive coordinators gave away last year faces a downgraded offensive with an improved defense.
Wake Forest Jim Grobe.
Georgia
Althought this is going to be close. Bobby Reid might have a slight coming out party.
Clemson I can't put much confidence behind Drew Weatherford on the road yet.

My picks,

Cal-Just taking the bolder, better pick.  Tennessee QB is fully healthy even though he's playing, could make things worse.
GT-I really don't see Notre Dame winning more than 8 this year, if that.  Any team that is mediocre has a chance.
BC-I can see Boston College getting upset once this season, but this isn't the time.  Close game, but should be a good one.
Ok. St.-Easy choice.  Georgia shouldn't keep this game close very long.
Clemson-Don't see FSU playing very strong this year, Clemson is a decent team, and has the home advantage.

You really think Ok St will beat Georgia?  As an easy choice?  I'll take that bet.

Tennessee's QB is not fully healthy from what I have seen.  Unless they are sandbagging on me.  Kind of hard to sandbag on a broken finger though.

Wrong one, I mis-read the spread and thought it was OK. State was favored. I'll still keep my picks though.
