Week 12 is upon us, and it delivers a pretty weak slate of games with only one matchup between 2 teams in the top 25. For the first week since at least early October, this week doesn't feature a big time Big 12 game, but that is just the calm before next weeks huge game in Norman. Last week I went 4-2 in my first week of picks so lets see if we can improve on that number this week.Tonight 8pm ESPN2: 22 Cincinnati at Louisville [55% of FanIQ is picking Louisville]
The 22nd ranked Bearcats seemed to be overlooked when it comes to the Big East title but the Bearcats are in a tie for first with Pitt and with a win this week, set up an almost defacto Big East Championship Game next week against Pitt. Cincinnati is coming off a win over West Virginia last week where they did blow a 12 point lead with less than 2 minutes to go but held on to win in overtime. Louisville on the other hand is one game away from being bowl eligible but lost to Syracuse this season so they probably shouldn't be going to any bowl. The Bearcats will score just enough to pull this out. Cincinnati 28 Louisville 21
Saturday 12:30pm Fox Sports Net: 3 Texas at Kansas [97% picking Texas]
This game looked a lot bigger about a month ago when Kansas was on the brink of the top 10, but after blowout losses to Oklahoma and Texas Tech and a road loss to Nebraska, this game has lost some luster. Kansas needs a victory to stay in the Big 12 North race while Texas is still playing for the Big 12 South and National Championship. Texas has won 6 in a row between the schools and Kansas hasn't beat Texas since, get this, a 19-18 victory in 1938. Granted the schools have only played 6 times since then but still, that is a long time to go without beating a team. Look for that winless streak to reach to 7 and 71 years as Texas rolls. Longhorns 49 Jayhawks 21
Saturday 3:30 PM CBS: No. 25 South Carolina at No. 4 Florida [92% picking Florida]
The Ol' Ball Coach returns to the Swamp for the weekends only match up of top 25 teams. Florida owns a commanding 21-4-3 lead in the all-time series with South Carolina, and the Gators won last season 51-31. Both teams have highly ranked defenses. Florida has the top scoring defense in the SEC at 11.9 points per game (4th nationally), while South Carolina has the top total defense in the SEC at 256.5 yards per game (3rd nationally). So one might conclude that this will be a hard hitting defensive battle, well not exactly. Florida is 7th nationally in scoring offense at 42.8 points per game, while South Carolina is 70th with a paltry 24 points per game. Florida is going to win this game, and win it big. Gators 45 Gamecocks 14
Saturday 8:00 PM CBS College Sports: No. 23 Tulsa at Houston [70% picking Tulsa]
You might be wondering why I chose this game as a game of the weekend. Well not only can both teams light up the scoreboard but the winner of this game has gone onto the Conference USA championship game in each of the last 4 years. Tulsa holds a one game lead over Houston and with the win, Tulsa could lock up the C-USA West division crown. Tulsa leads the nation in scoring at 52 points per game but Houston is right there with 38 per game. If you like offense, then this is the game for you. In this shootout, the team with the better QB will win the game, and that would be Tulsa. Golden Hurricane 56 Cougars 45
