I know we make fun of the Cincinnati Bengals all the time for having players arrested, but in all honesty, it's the NCAA that's a mess. We've seen Tennessee nearly get their entire team arrested, and Alabama hasn't been doing so well lately either. Nor LSU. And of course there was that Louisville cornerback who went home and robbed a convenience store with an Uzi.But now we can add Virginia to the mix.
University of Virginia football player Mike Brown has been arrested by UVA police and charged with grand larceny, possession of stolen property with intent to sell, altering serial numbers and possession of marijuana. I like how Brown didn't get tagged with just one crime, but multiple ones. He is truly a multi-dimensional talent.
So how did he get popped exactly? Oh, only through sheer intense police work. Actually, I'm kidding.
Brown stole a music mixer, mixer box, camcorder and microphone from a car owned by a UVA student, and then immediately put them on eBay.
Naturally the student found his stuff on eBay three days later, which led police directly to Brown's apartment, where he also had weed stashed.
A true student-athlete if ever there was one.
Of course, head coach Al Groh is upset: “At this time we are currently gathering the facts. In view of the nature of the allegation, Mike Brown is not participating with the program at this time.”
But he hasn't officially been kicked off the team yet. Why? Because he might be a starter in the fall.
Of course.
