College Football Rankings: LSU Gains Ground on #1 USC in AP, Coaches Poll
Both the polls are out for Week 3 in college football and USC is still number one despite LSU rolling over and proving themselves against a Top 10 team.

In the AP Poll where all teams are now eligible for ranking, Appalachian State received 19 votes, good for 33rd.

Notable movement:
- South Carolina jumped to 17th in the AP, 23rd in the Coaches after beating Georgia. Hmm, you think Steve Spurrier has lost some friends in the profession?
- AP dropped Texas A&M to 25th, Coaches still have the Aggies in the Top 20 at 18. Guess which group actually watched games?
- Oklahoma leapfrogged West Virginia and Florida for 3rd in the AP.
- Needless to say, Michigan received zero votes. Not even from voters in Oklahoma.

The Picking APart the Pollsters should be up later tonight.

Why is Florida 3 in the Coaches "Poll" with 7 first place votes? Did the assistant to the traveling secretary at the schools not watch any games at all? I think that the AP has it just about perfect this week. This year has been a great year for the AP poll overall.

Interesting how the voters completely threw Michigan out, but gave the Ducks the credit for beating a ranked team. Goes to show you how much voters still want to think of Michigan.

I am curious to see how all of the AP pollsters ranked their top 5.

Make no mistake, I too, thought of Michigan as ranked, even though they weren't.  This 0-2 record the Wolverines are sporting will be difficult to recover from.

I'm not sure if voters will give UM any credit from here on out, unless they start to pull it together and win games.

This is similar to Michigan skyrocketing up the rankings last year after beating what the voters wanted to think was a very good Notre Dame team. As we know, ND didn't beat wasn't quite as good as their high ranking, but Michigan still remained atop the polls because of that.

You know if Notre Dame had won their first two games they would be ranked about 16. It always happens that way.

Well, if Notre Dame beat GT and Penn State they'd deserve to be ranked higher. But I do understand what you're saying in most years.

LMAO. The Irish only need two wins to qualify for a BCS bowl, right? Isn't that way it always goes? LOL

They would deserve a ranking but they would be Michigan-ly over rated.

So USF goes on the road to an SEC ranked team beats them and then in the coaches poll still sits behind them. The Coaches poll is a complete joke. I guess if they can beat USC and LSU in the same day maybe then they can crack the top 25.

Wow. Still waiting for the AP to update their site with the individual ballots.

It looks like last year's list is updated with this year's rankings... but the new voters (like Goren) aren't on that list.  So if you still have the link from last year, it should give you the updated votes for most of the voters.

Silly AP.
