College Football Scores: Appalachian State Upsets #5 Michigan; Biggest Ever?
READ MORE:

Appalachian State 34, Michigan 32 A perfect example of a top tier school becoming overwhelmed with their own arrogance. After watching Appalachian State last fall in their National Championship game I'm convinced Lloyd Carr and Co. failed to do the necessary homework. The Mountaineers didn't pull out any new tricks today, and Lloyd was thoroughly out-coached by a D1-AA coach. That's sad.

As a Spartan enthusiast and Big Ten, I can honestly say that as much I might want to enjoy this victory it's a thorough embarrassment to the Big Ten. Even Jim Tressel and Mark Dantonio answered post-game press conferences with "It's a shame" rhetoric.

Even though the Wolverines are talented, we're going to be testing the AP and Coaches voting system. If Michigan is ranked in either poll the system is flawed and a joke. My guess is they will be and you'll hear from me plenty on Tuesday.

Biggest Upset in College Footbal History?

I say yes.

It should be an interesting Sept. 8th.  Which emotion will the Wolverines display... anger or depression?

Easily the biggest upset ever.  D-1AA teams, no matter how good, should never beat a ranked D-1A team, let alone one who should contend for the national title.

As for Oregon next week, I think Dennis Dixon will tear that D apart.  I was looking forward to that game before today, and now its even more intruiging.

Edit : Does Michigan's recent play remind anyone of Nebraska's downfall in 2001/2002?

i totally agree , a team who was supposed to compete for a title shouldn't lose to a Div-2 school no matter how good they are. because i bet that game, i hope Michigan goes under 500 for the season now.

I say it's definately the biggest upset ever. And I found it hilarious as an Ohio State fan but as a Big 10 fan, it was definately embarrassing! Add this to the ever growing list of reasons why Carr won't be back as head coach next season.

On another note, they will definately be angry for next week. I think they are going to demolish the Ducks like they should have done to App. St. yesterday.

Nothing tops Chaminade beating Ralph Sampson and Virginia.

I can't imagine having anything to do with the Michigan football program right now. As a fan, coach, or player, you started out the season dreaming of playing in the BCS title game, and after the first afternoon of the season, that dream is wiped out. Gone. Thanks for playing Mike Hart and Chad Henne.

disagree, while that upset was tremendous, in college hoops that just means you slide down the polls for a week or 2. but michigan's season is OVER!

If you are talking which upset has the biggest impact on the season, then yes, this one is tops. If you are talking about strictly the game, I still stand by Chaminade/Virginia.

And it could spell the end for Lloyd Carr.

I'm pretty sure everyone....even Wisconsin.... is going to run the spread against Michigan this year.

And this isn't the biggest ever....I'm still going to have to go with Temple over Va. Tech.

Dear Lloyd Carr,

YOU'RE FIRED!

That's at least what I would be saying.
