Thoughts on the late finishes in college football ...Kentucky 40, #9 Louisville 34
14% of fans (including me) picked this one. Congrats to Andre' Woodson for finally getting a win on the gridiron against Brian Brohm. That's his first through high school and college ... you may have heard that a time for twelve during the telecast. If you watched college gameday, it's interesting to note that when the two top QB prospects faced each other the winning quarterback was taken first. I'd be shocked if Brohm was taken first, but because of his mobility I'm not so sure I wouldn't go with Woodson.
Where do we rank Louisville? I'd rank these teams even in the 20s. If Louisville and Kentucky play 10 times on a neutral site it's 5-5.
Alabama 41, #16 Arkansas
By no means an upset. 60% of fans called it. You can point to a lot of factors that decided this game (Darren McFadden cramped) but I'm going to point to just one. The Razorbacks had the lead 38-34 with the clock winding down and chose to run a play-action rollout that resulted in nearly an interception, but worst of all a stopped clock. Whether Saban called a timeout there or not, at some point running the football runs off at least :25 more seconds. Bama scored with :08 left. Nice work Houston Nutt.
In other more important news, how about the twins wearing Bear Bryant hats?
#1 USC 49, #14 Nebraska 31
One team ran for 313 yards over the Memorial Stadium Field, the other passed for 389. It wasn't who you'd think. In case you were wondering, USC is worth the hype. The only question I have about the Trojans is which one of the running backs is best and which one of the Song Girls do I like most?
#21 Boston College 24, #15 Georgia Tech 10
Maybe the top QB taken in next year's NFL Draft wasn't even playing in Kentucky Saturday night. He was in Atlanta. I had a few too many questions about the Eagles to rank them last week, not any more. Matt Ryan, you impress.
Utah 44, #11 UCLA 6
2% of fans picked this shocker. No reason for this happening other than supreme overconfidence, and that's on Karl Dorrell.
Feel free to share any other reactions to the yesterday's action right here.
