#12 South Carolina (+15.5) at #2 LSU
Blogs: And The Valley Shook goes off this week about the polls and why LSU is still second to USC. Garnett and Black Attack pays the LSU Defense the ultimate respect (I think) with a quote of the week: "If you put a young child in front of the Bayou Bengals' defense and told them it was an offensive player, they would rip it limb from limb."
FanIQ: 73% say Tigers
My Take: The Gamecocks are a good football team; Jon Wilner would like you to believe they are Top 5, but that's just not the case. Whether it's Perrilloux or Flynn at QB for the Tigers they've got more playmakers on offense and sport the best defense in the country. LSU 27, Gamecocks 10.
Georgia (+3.5) at #16 AlabamaBlogs: It doesn't have a lot to do with this game, but Roll Bama Roll is telling Bob Stoops to shut up about Nick Saban cheating (filming) during the 2004 Sugar Bowl. He is a Belichick disciple. Dawg Sports grabs a cocktail and discusses this weekend's game. Is there any other way to do it?
FanIQ: 57% say Crimson Tide
My Take: I demand College Gameday does a special with the Alabama twins ... we know Herbstreit is paying them a visit anyway. Right, the game ... I can't in good conscience pick against Nick Saban at home. Alabama 23, Dawgs 17.
#10 Penn State (-3) at Michigan
Blogs: Run Up the Score discussing the game with Michigan Blogging overlord MGoBlog. Not a blog, but you can't pass up a Joe Paterno press conference before a big game.
FanIQ: 70% say Nittany Lions
My Take: The Nittany Lions have lost 8 straight to Michigan. I haven't trouble shaking that stat when making a pick, but I've got to look at just this season. Penn State has the necessary speed to give UM fits at WR, and a defense that will "contain" Mike Hart as much he can be. If Penn State loses it means Anthony Morelli crapped his pants, a distinct possibility. But I'll stick with the better team, even if it's on the road. Penn State 31, Michigan 20.
Kentucky (+6.5) at ArkansasBlogs: I'm waiting anxiously for Kige Ramsey's prediction, but until then A Sea of Blue is still basking in the afterglow of the big Louisville win. Hog Blogger points out a video (below) that I'm certain will be played in the Hogs locker room.
FanIQ: 59% say Wildcats
My Take: Houston Nutt should be all giddy about the possibility of running the ball for well over 300 against the Wildcats.
Check that:
Darren McFadden "Number 5" might rush for 300 himself. I think UK is still enjoying last week. Arkansas 41, Kentucky 21.
Special Interest to Me: Michigan State at Notre Dame
Blogs: Sadly, the Spartans don't have a solid fan blog. Hmm, wish I had time. Blue-Gray Sky has a lengthy preview for you die-hards that care about this rivalry.
FanIQ: 67% say Spartans
My Take: MSU leads the nation in sacks. ND leads the nation in giving up sacks. Logic would tell you that this shouldn't be close. But it's Michigan State. Then again, they don't have John L Smith anymore. My brain, or what's left of it, is frying trying to figure this out. I trust the defense, even though ND will come out pissing vinegar. Spartans 23, Notre Dame 13.
Tonight: #20 Texas A&M (+3.5) at Miami (FL)
Blogs: EDSBS gives you the reasons to watch this game. Not that you needed any. 12th manchild urges you to Leave Fran Alone ... yep another one:
FanIQ: 74% say Aggies
My Take: "Don't nobody walk into the U and push us around ..." Well, unless you bring Jovorskie Lane. Don't nobody mess with the J-Train. I like Randy Shannon (but not the constant recycling of his ESPN feature), he'll U-turn it around eventually, but they've been unimpressive thus far. Should be a good game of team's trying to prove themselves. 4th Quarter, Aggies running backs make a difference. Texas A&M 27, Miami 23.
