Conte and Co. will seek redemption against Real Madrid
Juventus manager Antonio Conte has urged his side to seek redemption after a surprise 4-2 defeat against Fiorentina. With a win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, Conte believes his side can set back on the right track.
The much anticipated Champions League clash will be in the spotlight on Wednesday. Conte, who saw his men falter against Fiorentina, insists his side needs to concentrate on their meeting with Real Madrid.
The Old Lady desperately needs to pick a win if there are keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive. Juventus have already recorded two draws in their first group games, which is why Conte is pressurizing his men to pick up a win at all costs.
“This is an important game against an important side, and games like this give you lots of motivation and stimuli,” Conte said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday. “What happened in Florence was unimaginable, but it's something which happens from time to time. But the statistics show that we are creating a lot.
“At the Bernabeu, we'll play our game against one of the most successful clubs in the world. It's going to be tough, but this is a chance for us to show all that we're capable of.”
The Bianconeri drew their opening game at Copenhagen. A draw at home against Galatasaray turned situation worse for Juventus. The Serie A champions are having a difficult time back home in Italy as well. Conte and Co. have conceded 10 goals in eight league games. The gap between Juventus and table leader Roma is now only five points. Conte admits this has been his most difficult year in charge of the Italian club.
Conte has urged key players from his team to rise to the occasion. Fernando Llorente, who has been under intense fire by the media, is experiencing a difficult start to his career in Turin.
“Let's not forget he did not play for a year and he has had to digest all the insults he received in Bilbao,” Conte said.
Conte also hinted towards an attacking partnership between Carlos Tevez and Llorente. The Italian tactician believes both forwards can make a huge impact in Juventus’ attack. Conte said: “Tevez has had a very positive impact, and he's an example for the quality and effort he puts in every day.”
