Friday January 2, 2009
2 pm EST, on FOX
The #7 Texas Tech Red Raiders will play the #25 Mississippi Rebels in the 73rd edition of the Cotton Bowl.
While this looks to be an exciting game in its own right, it also might give us a glimpse into what could happen in the National Championship game on January 8 between Florida and Oklahoma. Ole Miss is the only team that beat Florida this year, beating them 31-30 in week 5 of the regular season. Texas Tech played in the Big 12 South with Oklahoma. Although the Sooners beat them pretty badly, they beat the Texas Longhorns, who in turn beat the Sooners. If Texas Tech puts a beating on Ole Miss, it might give Oklahoma some added hope, despite the fact that many people think that Florida will win. If Ole Miss beats up on Texas Tech, then it could be a great sign for Florida.
Either way, this should be an exciting game, as Texas Tech's ridiculous offense will go up against one of the best defenses in the country in Ole Miss.
94% of FanIQ picked Texas Tech to win. If you're watching the game on FOX, you can chat it up here or on the game page. As always, enjoy the game!
Also, later on today, the Liberty Bowl features Kentucky and ECU. Once the Cotton Bowl is over, keep it here to chat about the Liberty Bowl, if you're watching it (5 pm EST on ESPN). 70% of FanIQ picked ECU to win, but look out for the SEC in that one. They may surprise you.
