Craig Biggio is one of my all-time favorite athletes. As I mentioned earlier this summer after his 3,000th hit, if I had to teach a kid how to play baseball I use Biggio as the example. Play hard, play with class and be willing to do whatever is asked of you.
Craig knows how to write a script. Just like his 3,000th was classic, occurring on a head first slide (called out) into second trying to push a single into a double. On Sunday, Biggio left the field as we pictured him over 20 years:
It's a bummer he's moving on, but it's a well deserved retirement.Craig Biggio tore a hole in the knee of his pants.
Again.
Biggio walked off a baseball field caked in dirt and sweat.
Again.
Biggio got a hit, scored a run, helped the Houston Astros win
a game.
Never again.
