Creighton vs. Alabama [Game info and open thread]
The Bluejays (28-5) finished second in the Missouri Valley Conference behind a very strong Wichita State team. Save for a three-game losing streak in early February, the Bluejays could be looking at a No. 4 or No. 5 seed. You may not be familiar with this Creighton team, but they are one of the most exciting and highest-scoring teams in the nation. They average 80.0 points per game, and the man at the center of that is All-American forward Doug McDermott. At 23.2 points per game, McDermott was the nation's third-leading scorer. And he isn't just a scorer--he also averages 8.2 rebounds a game.
Alabama (21-11) was a top-15 team to begin the season, but ran into some off the court issues that set Anthony Grant's squad back a bit. Despite not beating any of the SEC's top teams all year, the Crimson Tide can be a dangerous team in March. Their game is very different than Creighton's--they like to win with defense, as opposed to the Bluejays' potent offense. Expect Alabama to try and slow down the tempo in order to control the clock. Senior forward JaMychal Green is 'Bama's leading scorer and rebounder at 14.0 and 7.4 rebounds per game.
