Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff believes Pep Guardiola is the perfect manager to take Bayern Munich to the next stage of success. Guardiola arrived at the club this summer to replace Jupp, who took Bayern Munich to a historic Treble last season. It will be next to impossible for someone to top Heynckes achievements, but Guardiola is one man who has accomplished the impossible in the past as well.
Guardiola is on an almost unmanageable task of improving what Heynckes achieved. As difficult as his journey may sound, the former Barcelona manager has already managed to better his record in the league than his predecessor by winning the Bundesliga title much earlier than him.
The Bavarians will next target the Champions League and DFB-Pokal. Guardiola has yet to lose a game on both platforms could very well be heading towards another treble, and acquire it in a more emphatic fashion. The Spaniard understands that he will be compared to Heynckes, despite him being in his maiden season at Bayern Munich. Nonetheless, Guardiola is someone who always welcomes challenges.
Cruyff believes Guardiola has what it takes to lead Bayern Munich to further glory. The former Barcelona player and manager backed Guardiola to prove his mettle at Bayern Munich.
“I know Pep very well and I know how intelligent he is. It was clear to me that he did not join this club with the intention of completely overhauling it,” Cruyff told tz Munich.“He is someone who modifies the processes.
“If something is good, he modifies the details. And that is his gift. That is what makes him such a good coach. He just realizes how to optimize something that is already good. There is no perfection in football. That is impossible. There will always be mistakes in this game. But this coach and this club have attuned really well. I think the chemistry between him and Bayern has something of perfection. It just works out!”
It is this understanding between Bayern Munich and Guardiola that will bring years of success to the club. Bayern Munich are in the DFB-Pokal semifinals against Kaiserslautern and already expected to reach the finals of the tournament. In the Champions League Bayern Munich will face the ailing Manchester United. Therefore, nothing would be stopping the German giants from entering the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
