The cat is finally out of the bag at Old Trafford as reports of Wilfried Zaha’s transfer travel through the football community through The Sun and the Daily Express. The two media sources have confirmed the transfer move, although Crystal Palace and Manchester United have yet to come up with an official confirmation.
The 20-year-old forward had been subjected to intense transfer speculation over the past couple of months. Top drawer Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United were battling for Wilfried Zaha’s signature for the past couple of weeks.
The transfer saga seemed to have arrived at a stalemate, although many recognized Manchester United as the frontrunners for Wilfried Zaha’s services.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly an avid admirer of Wilfried Zaha. The Scotsman has been in search for a long-term replacement of Manchester United’s out of favor winger Nani.
The want-away Portugal international, Nani was expected to leave Old Trafford this fall, but Sir Alex Ferguson has decided to give the 26-year-old another chance at the club. Sir Alex Ferguson will closely monitor Nani’s progress till then end of the season before deciding if he should keep him in his squad for next season.
Regardless of Nani’s fate at Manchester United, Wilfried Zaha is expected to become huge icon in the English football community in the future. Wilfried Zaha has been in fine form for Crystal Palace over the past year and a half.
The young forward has helped Crystal Palace contend for a Premier League spot this term. Earlier this month, Wilfried Zaha even made his first senior appearance for the England national team.
Wilfried Zaha’s tweet about playing for the Premier League leaders, which are obviously Manchester United, has created a lot of frenzy. The tweet got deleted soon after it was made public with Wilfried Zaha later claiming that wasn’t the writer of the tweet.
Manchester United are notoriously known for making signings without a whisper reaching the ears of media. Therefore, Wilfried Zaha might be in for Sir Alex Ferguson’s feared hair-dryer treatment on his first day of work.
